Giving—The Supernatural Outworking of Love

“Remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” — Acts 20:35

Why is it better to give than to receive?

Because giving is the outworking of love. Giving is love in action.

There is something powerful and supernatural within you. That thing is love. It is what you are. It is what you have been made of in Christ.

But love was never meant to remain dormant. Love is expressed. Love is poured out. Love gives.

The measure of love operating in your life is seen in how freely you give.

And love has a supernatural quality to it: it creates a way where there was no way.

Jesus said:

“Give, and it will be given to you…” (Luke 6:38)

We all desire things.

Opportunities.
Friendships.
Provision.
Time.
Open doors.

Yet we often fail to realize that the key to receiving many of these things is becoming a giver.

If you want opportunities, create opportunities for others. If you want friendships, invest in relationships. If you want financial breakthrough, practice generosity. If you want more time, give your time.

The Kingdom of Love operates differently than the world. In this Kingdom, what you cling to remains what it is. What you give, increases.

What you shelter will not multiply. What you sow will.

Think of everything as a seed.

Anything that contains life has a seed within itself. This is the natural order of life—life always multiples.

We operate in the realm of life and the source of all life is Love.

Wherever there is love, there is always life— love will give life to whatever you place in its hands.

This is why giving—the outworking of love—breathes life into things that otherwise appear ordinary, supernaturally enabling them to multiply.

When you give it, time becomes a seed…your money becomes a seed…your energy becomes a seed. Everything you give as a demonstration of love becomes a seed that will grow and multiply.

Love is the infinite that brings multiplication to the finite, ordinary things. God’s Love will even give infinite life to your mortal body one day!

This is the power of love!

By the way God does not leave the giver empty-handed.

“He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing.” (2 Corinthians 9:10)

If you lock a seed away in a safe, you will always have only one seed. But if you sow it, it produces more seed. You can also think of Love as the action of sowing. Sowing is the only way you can have more seed!

Of course, seeds must be planted in good soil. Part of our responsibility is learning where to sow.

But don’t make the mistake of thinking you need to look far away for opportunities to give.

Start close. Start with your family. Start with your church. Start with your neighbors.

Start with the people God has already placed in front of you.

Love them.

Serve them.

Give to them.

Sow life into them.

And watch what love produces.
