There was a time when death was an insurmountable foe. No one dared cross its path. It engulfed every man, woman, boy, girl – who came near it, and made its name known and feared across the ages.
But one day, its undisputed its reign was disrespected by one Man, a Servant of mankind- One who existed before the beginning, but had come to save men from this foe. He came close to this terrifying foe and stared it square in the face.
It was like when David faced Goliath. The Giant laughed in the face of this Servant. But, He didn’t blink. He knew His Mission. He knew the joy set before Him – the captives who lived under the bondage of this menacing foe.
And He knew well that the only way to destroy Death was, to rip it from inside. So He had to die. Death laughed and welcomed Him mockingly, saying “well…what a fool, so you’ve come to just die huh?”
But what Death didn’t know was that, this Servant had brought in with Him Death’s very weapon – the one weapon Death had used to defeat every man – Sin. But not just that, He had become this weapon Himself!
So on that faithful day, as Death welcomed Jesus into its graveyard – Sin died. Death panicked, feeling every ounce its power suddenly evaporating away. Its sharp fangs became dull. Its claws became like rubber. Death died.
But this Servant – The Man of sorrows, finished what He came to do and did what no man had ever done before – He awakened from death, death no longer having any hold on Him, and walked out of His tomb!
“O Death, where is your sting?O Hades, where is your victory?”The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.1 Corinthians 15:55-57 NKJV
